How to choose nice topic for blog

As someone new 'acquainted' with the world of blogging, I also made a lot of mistakes when starting blogging.

But from that mistake, I think a lot of experience and learning. The results, experiences and learning outcomes, I apply to build other blogs, including this blog, namely: Portal-Money!

Indeed, not much I have achieved from this blog, but there are changes and improvements that are very significant compared to my previous blogs. One of the most obvious taste is the livelihood of blogs with satisfactory results, I finally got it through this blog.

For that, this time I try to share experience. The experience that departed from my failure to build my first blog. Also how do I start building a PortalUang blog, which so far, I consider is quite satisfactory.

The most common mistakes made by bloggers at the time of starting blogging

When I first created a blog, I did not know what topic I wanted to lift. Finally I write it as it is. I write about what comes to mind. Today I write about my favorite books I read, the next day I write about sports, the next day I write about the design. And so on. Jump from one topic to another.

And it turns out this is something wrong! The first step to achieve success in blogging is, we must choose and determine the best niche first!

Well, through this paper I want to share how to choose a good and correct niche. Of course, this is subjective, because based on my own personal experience.

This is the biggest mistake many bloggers make when starting blogging!

Do you do the same thing?
In fact, posting randomly generated ideas will not help much to develop your blog to a higher level.

However, before we discuss further, I would like to ask one question:

"How do you interpret blogging itself?
Writing content for search engines, installing ads like Adsense, getting clicks from visitors, then expecting a lot of money from Adsense? "

Is it like that? If you mean 'blogging' like that, then you can stop reading my writing until here, because I am not the right person to guide you.

The reason I am saying this, is because my experience during blogging is to do many things:
  1. Choose a strong niche
  2. Write quality content
  3. Serving content in other formats (such as video)
  4. Identify potential traffic sources for the selected niche
  5. Looking for traffic from untouched sources
  6. Build brand and blog name, and
  7. And choose an alternative source of income (we all want to earn money is not it?)
How?

If you have the same 'thinking', I hope we can continue this discussion together and work together to achieve success.

A useless suggestion!

If you've read some blog posts about tips on choosing a niche to start building a blog, I'm sure at least you've found the following tips:
  1. Use Google Adwords Keyword Tool (now replaced with Keyword Planner) or other keyword research tool.
  2. Analyze the latest thread on the topic at leading forums.
  3. Check out a keyword in Google Search, if there are enough advertisers for that keyword.
At a glance, 3 tips above looks okay to run. But, when I ask those who suggest these tips, did they do it while starting blogging? Most of them, strangely replied: no!

Well loh! How can these suggestions lead to success? If even they themselves do not do it!

Really I think a useless tip. And I: very, very, very do not recommend such useless tips!

Then, what is the correct way to choose a niche?

I hope you follow the following description carefully. In almost every article I've read about choosing a niche, it's all about 'passion'. About Passion!

All senior bloggers say: You have to choose a niche that you are passionate about in it. Where you are passionate, you are enthusiastic, you are very fond of the topic. And indeed, in many ways, this is true.

Working on something you're passionate about, something you like so much, it's going to give you a great end result.

If you currently have a passion for a particular topic or niche, then you no longer need to continue reading this article thoroughly.

Let's take an example, for example you really really like your pet cat, then you really do not need any research to start blogging. You can immediately create a blog about everything about your pet cat, along with all its aspects. Or another example. Suppose you really like cycling activities, then you can immediately start blogging about it.

In conclusion: if you already have passion, love, passion, passion, towards a certain topic, then you do not need to do any search!

But wait a minute! I know (because I also experienced it), how hard it is for most people to find a topic, where we have enough passion in that area and immediately start building blogs.

Besides, is it true that passion and extraordinary love in one thing, is the only way to successfully build a blog?

Let's continue the discussion. I assume you, at this time, are people who do not have enough passion to start blogging (please forgive me with this assumption).

However, if you are still reading my writing so far, I hope my conclusion can be a true guide to finding your niche. The best niche you want to be in.

Well, here are the steps you need to do in a trace.

1. Do not look for passion, just create a passion to learn

If you do not currently have a topic that you are passionate about, you can still be successful and become a professional blogger. From my experience at the start of blogging, as I mentioned above, I do not have a topic that really excites me in it. Therefore, it proved I failed.

Then how do I find my way out of the deadlock and start PortalUang? This is what I do; I create the passion to learn everything!

Yes, that's it. One thing is very simple, but very effective. One thing that can increase 1000% traffic, when compared with my previous blogs.

One more thing. If you can keep your passion to learn everything, then you can choose any topic you want! Because by continuing to increase knowledge in one particular area, then automatically you will be able to present outstanding content., Content that inspires, content that is sought by many people.

In my own case. At first I did not have sufficient knowledge about Google Adsense, even though I had run Adsense long before creating a PortalUang blog. Of course, as a result I failed to get the most out of it.

Then I decided, creating a passion to learn a lot about Adsense, then apply it and relay it to others through this blog.

As a result, my Adsense earnings rose more than 50 times more than before. So does the topic of Youtube, and the topic of blogging for money in general.

There may be one question in your mind right now:
Does having a passion for studying one particular topic can make me successful on a topic I previously did not really like? Does it ensure I can present my writing consistently? The answer is: Yes. You can!

In the next article, Inshallah I will discuss about how to write content on topics that we previously did not like. But, for today, it is enough that you make the choice of determining the topic of your blog.

How?

I hope, now you are no longer confused and afraid to choose a topic that you previously did not like or excited about in it. Say to yourself, from now on, just with the provision of passion, passion and love to keep learning, I can succeed to become a professional blogger.

Up here, you have completed 25% of the stages in choosing your niche blog correctly.

2. Create a list of topics

Now it's time to create a list of topics. Write 5 - 10 specific topics. No need to hurry. If necessary, spend 2 - 3 hours to complete your list of topics.

It takes a bit of 'struggle' to make a list of more than 3 - 4 topics. Why? Because, every time you choose a topic, your brain immediately thinks you are choosing a topic for blogging purposes, so you then think, when will I learn about this, will I be able to write consistently, and so on.

That is wrong! This is the first obstacle to your success. You must free the mind. You currently only need to select a topic only. No need to think about blogging first!

Okay, now try to look around you. View your favorite TV shows. View the websites you like best, and more. Make a list of topics from what you saw earlier. Write down all the topics that you think might be popular and interesting. And, maybe your list of topics would look like this:

From the results look around yourself:
  1. Your favorite pet
  2. Home furnishings
  3. Mobile (gadgets)
From the results view favorite websites or blogs:
  1. Facebook
  2. Youtube
  3. Awitrom IT?
From the results see what you're looking for last on Google:
  1. How to get rid of acne?
  2. Funny video?
Or you're out of the house, and you get the topic:
  1. Cars and Bicycles
  2. Gardening
Now, you already have a list of 10 topics, just by looking around and a bit of creative thinking.

Well, get here, you have reached 50% process of choosing your blog niche. Congratulations, it's time to make hot tea to freshen up, Hihi

3. Narrow down your topic
10 topics that you have chosen earlier, I believe is still too wide, too broad. You will have difficulty winning the 'competition' by raising topics that are too widened.

You need more skill and passion for blogging success with wide topics in no time. And I dare to make sure, if you have more expertise (also more passion of course), then you do not need any preparation to start blogging. Nor need to spend long hours just to make a list of topics. It is not like that?

So now you need to narrow down your list of topics. The more specific and pursue your topic, the more the road to success in blogging.

Then, how to narrow the topic earlier?

For example, from the list above, you finally choose the topic of mobile (gadget). If you write about gadgets in general, then you will have trouble getting loyal readers. But, before you do, you might think:

"If I narrow down the topic, then I will not get the advertiser to the fullest, because it is narrower in scope. And that means my income potential will decrease. "

Still remember the 'first barrier' above?

Well, this is the second barrier that will limit you. I'll bet, even if you blog with a broad topic, not specific, your earnings will not be greater, even if compared to the lowest earnings, if you are blogging on a specific topic. If you read a lot of my previous articles, you will easily find the answer.

So?

Yes you have to narrow down the topic you choose. Once you have started blogging on a narrow topic for the first 3 - 6 months, your loyal readers want to know more about you.

Well, at that moment, you can expand your topic slowly.

Let's continue!
From the top 10 list of topics I tried to narrow it down. Make it more specific. Examples like this:

1. Your favorite pet> Cat

2. Home furniture> Television, or more narrowly> HD Television, LED Television

3. Hanphone (gadget)> Samsung (brand mobile phone manufacturer), Telkomsel (service provider)

4. Facebook> Create, design, promo fanpage facebook for blogger

5. Youtube> Product marketing through Youtube

6. Money Portal> Successful running affiliates

7. How to get rid of acne? > Prevent, treat acne with herbs

8. Funny video? > Funny baby> Funny accident incident

9. Cars and Bicycles> Cycling activities

10. Gardening> Lawnmower

You can continue to create other sub-topics, which are narrower and more specific.

Already? Very good, it means that you have completed 75% of your blog niche selection process. Let's move on.

4. Make the final choice

It's time you decide the best option. At this stage there are 2 things that must be considered, namely:

1. Availability of content from each selected topic

When you choose a topic, it is not necessary to consider how popular the topic is. I did this experiment on PortalUang, by initiating writing 2 different topics, ie Google Adsense and Youtube topics. Both are very popular topics.

How is the result? It turns out that the average visit from search engines (Google) on the topic of Adsense (which is 6 times more time-consuming) is the same as a visit on an article with a Youtube topic. Sounds weird?

Both are very popular topics. But, there's a big difference in visits from Google.

How come?

After I investigated further, I finally found a reasonable reason here: the comparison between the availability of existing content on a particular topic and the number of requests for that content.

And in fact, Google Adsense has the availability of a very large source, either an article or video. So it's a bit difficult to win the competition. In contrast, there are still a few who provide reference sources about earning money from Youtube, so not strange within 1 week, the article 'earn money from Youtube' gives quite large traffic, and managed to hang out in the top position of Google search.

Well, the conclusion: make an analysis of which topics have the least availability. Then, choose the topic to start blogging.

2. How do you make money from blogs?

This is the second factor, which becomes a consideration in determining the final choice in choosing blog topics. Do you plan on creating and selling e-books after successful blogging within the next 6 months? Do you intend to issue physical products for sale? Or do you just want to run an affiliate business? Or maybe you'd like to reach an advertiser directly on your blog?

Determine which method you will use to earn money from blogs, then determine which niche gives you greater opportunities for that purpose.

For example, if you intend to sell physical products, then you can write about 'cat and purchases, stocks and tools for cats that are handicapped', for example. If you prefer to use PPC advertising model, you can choose to blogging with gadget brand topic certain. If you want to run an affiliate, then you can choose blogging about their products online.

Well, if you have completed this stage, then finished already 100% stages in choosing your blog niche. Do not make this process difficult. Your hard work, in turn, will determine your success by itself.

If you currently have a blog, and already have some 'unsuccessful' articles, just throw it away. Replace and start focusing on the topic you just selected. Or even if you currently have enough 'unsuccessful' articles, and you want to keep it, it does not matter, you can still continue with the specific topic you just specified.
Final conclusion

Do not choose an 'easy' topic to write on a daily basis, with no challenge to deepen and expand knowledge. Because, if you present something 'too easy', then no more value is given to the reader.

I did not write this guide for those who (sorry) 'lazy' and want to work a little. Blogging really needs hard work. Even honestly I say, maybe blogging is the hardest job, the most exhausting and most time-consuming I've ever lived.

Lazyness, can quickly stop you anytime.

Finally, I would like to hear your experience of all the subject matter of this paper. Or maybe you have better tips and strategies? Please share via comment field. Success for all of us.
